Joe Hubbard's professional background is represented by a collective body of experience that spans over more than two decades of operational security know-how, close protection operations and close quarter combatives training. He is a highly sought out personal protection specialist who has authored five instructional DVDs and has written articles in international martial arts magazines such as Martial Arts Illustrated, Combat, Black Belt UK and Budo International. As a respected self-defence instructor, Joe has proven experience teaching many elite operatives that include former Special Forces operators, U.S. Marines, UK law enforcement, private corporations and responsible private citizens. As a licensed close protection operative, he has been trained in British SAS tactics, counter-terrorism, tactical first aid, counter-surveillance, IED awareness and personal protection. Joe also holds many accredited instructor certifications and multiple black belts in martial arts systems comprised of unarmed combatives, ground fighting, knife/counter knife, stick fighting and fire arms.

Joe spent much of his childhood growing up in Thailand and other countries, learning not just how to fight, but also to “get-along” and navigate his way through the diversity of people and places in foreign lands. Early on, he became a bouncer and security operative for both “low-rent” and elite clubs in the Metropolitan London area, where he earned a reputation of flying into action in a moment's notice as needed and also – just as important – his ability to quell disturbances as a master of diplomacy. You get both when you get Joe. Serendipity led Joe into a series of close protection operations where he has looked after a deluge of celebrities that have included major actors, pop stars, super models and international fashion designers.

Later in life, after an extensive background and vetting process, and training, Joe was head-hunted to serve as a security operative, working both high-profile and quiet operations, for a sensitive diplomatic mission in Central London. During his service as a supervisor in charge of access control, Joe virtually rewrote the standards for many of the immediate action plans / policies and served as the Field Training Officer (FTO) for all on-the-job (OTJ) security training. Joe also proudly served as a supervisor in charge of security operations for the Residential Security Team (RST) for high-profile diplomats stationed in London. For dedication and selfless service to his job, in May 2008, Joe was presented with an official government award to applaud his excellence and commitment to the security mission as a whole.

Later in September 2008, Joe founded his own security training company, Functional Force Options , where he now dedicates his time and energy teaching private students, seminars, filming DVDs, writing articles and working in conjunction with Delta One International planning and organizing close protection courses for private security contractors in South Africa. In his DVD series and through his training company, Joe's mission is to make a personal contract with you to improve your personal safety and success, whatever your mission or profession, and shares with you survival methods and strategies that he has learned, modified and developed from all his education and experience.
